Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is illegal to remove any wild bird's nest during nesting season - which is generally from February to August. As a rule of thumb, if you find a nest with eggs or young in it, don't touch it! Anyone caught breaking this law 'could' face a fine of up to £5000 and/or imprisonment for six months to two years... Yes, that's pretty serious, & no, I wouldn't want to get into that kind of trouble either... And this law doesn't apply only to birds. For more information, please go here, & here. In light of this quite disturbing information, I'm more than happy to pay a visit, do an inspection & give an estimate for the job BUT it may not be possible for me to carry out ivy removal or hedge trimming work as quickly as you'd like me to.
